Irene Torres

Irene Torres

Irene Torres is a Naarm/ Melbourne-based artist and curator whose work spans over two decades. Suspended between the real and the imagined, the known and the unknown, Torres’s landscapes weave a constellation of feelings, memories and dreams.

She paints from her imagination and memory, where light and weight intertwine, drawing you into a personal well of resonance in which she explores themes of loss, longing, hope, revelation, terror, and awe. All the while, the contemplation lingers on the enigmatic mysteries intrinsic to nature.

Her work has been included in significant Australian art awards including The Glover Art Prize, Evandale and The Hadley’s Art Prize, Hobart. Torres’s work is held in important private and public collections around Australia and overseas.
