Brunswick Street Gallery is now open for exhibition applications for Emerge: O UT, joining our annual Midsumma Festival programming.

BSG is accepting applications from LGBTQIA+ identifying artists and curators who wish to exhibit in our Emerge: O UT group exhibition during our O UT programming, to be held from 27 Jan–11 Feb 2024 for Midsumma Festival.

Applications close: MIDNIGHT, Sunday 3 December

We are now seeking applications for Emerge: O UT, our 13th Emerge exhibition, held as part of Midsumma Festival.

We are accepting applications for LGBTQIA+ identifying artists group exhibitions for exhibitions held between 27 January – 11 February 2024.

Established in 2018, the Emerge exhibition series is an opportunity for artists working in all mediums to showcase their new work without the pressure of a solo exhibition, and amongst fellow emerging and established artists.

In our O UT rendition, we seek to amplify the voices of LGBTQIA+ artists working in the emerging space.Without a particular theme or brief which artwork needs to conform to, Emerge: O UT will be a snapshot of the artist’s current practice, or allows the opportunity to present new and experimental works–perhaps deviating from their usual offerings.

As per our Emerge exhibition structure, artists will be applying for an exhibited in a 2-3m or 5-6m space.

Exhibition dates: 27 January–11 February 2024
Opening Event: Saturday 27 January 6–8PM

Explorations on the theme of queerness, from the perspective of an LGBTQIA+ identifying artist

Artwork can be representative of the artist's current practice, not necessarily pertaining to LGBTQIA+ themes

Brunswick Street Gallery is pleased to invite you to submit work for our upcoming group exhibition, Summertide.

SUMMERTIDE, invites artists to capture and create a representation of a subject matter that celebrates the myriad hues, sensations, and narratives of summer. Whether in the form of vibrant canvases depicting sun-drenched landscapes to objects embodying the essence of summery reverie, or photographs that freeze moments of euphoria, SUMMERTIDE presents a kaleidoscope of summer's joy.

As the season's warmth envelops us, we invite artists to draw from their unique perspectives to unveil the beauty and vitality of these sun-soaked months. Each work may resonate with the enchantment of this cherished season, invoking nostalgia and inspiration, and remind us that summer's splendor transcends the limitations of any medium.
