GROUP EXHIBITION CALL-OUTS
Brunswick Street Gallery is proud to present an engaging, vibrant and diverse program of exhibitions, including group exhibitions featuring creatives working in a range of artistic practices.
We extend the opportunity to our community of artists to be a part of the below group exhibitions, where you see your practice aligning, and joining a lineup of artists responding in their own unique style to the themes presented in each showcase.
Information about how to apply for each group exhibition can be found below.
O UT
O UT Exhibition 2025, featuring Mellow War (Riley Barr) and Matthew Grayson.
Brunswick Street Gallery is now accepting expressions of interest from artists who wish to exhibit in O UT, a group exhibition to be held from 24 January–8 February 2026.
Brunswick Street Gallery is now seeking applications for our annual group exhibition, O UT — a showcase that amplifies the voices of LGBTQIA+ artists working at all stages of their practice. The exhibition forms part of the wider programming for the 2026 Midsumma Festival, which runs over four weekends in January and February and features an explosion of queer events celebrating both hidden and mainstream queer culture. The festival involves local, interstate, and international artists across the city of Melbourne.
Our group exhibitions provide an opportunity for artists working in all mediums to showcase new work without the pressure of a solo exhibition, and to exhibit alongside fellow emerging and established artists. With no specific theme or brief that artworks must conform to, O UT presents a snapshot of each artist’s current practice and offers space to share new or experimental works that may deviate from their usual offerings.
Exhibition Prompts:
We welcome submissions across all mediums, including painting, photography, sculpture, textiles, installation, digital media, and experimental practices.
There are no restrictions on theme, style, or approach. We’re just looking for work that reflects your unique artistic voice — whether bold or subtle, abstract or representational, conceptual or narrative-driven.
Exhibition fee:
Exhibiting fees are based on the wall space allocated to each artist:
- 3 metres — $370
- 4 metres — $430
- 5 metres — $490
Artists should indicate their preferred wall length (3, 4 or 5 metres) in their application. Final wall space allocations will be confirmed upon acceptance.
Only selected artists are required to pay the exhibiting fee. Brunswick Street Gallery retains a 30% commission on all sold works.
Terms:
Brunswick Street Gallery values carefully curated exhibitions and may limit the number of works displayed by each artist, depending on the size of the submitted works and the wall space available within the exhibition.
Each artist will have a didactic panel featuring a statement about their artworks and/or practice, displayed on the wall adjacent to their collection.
Artists must supply high-res images and full details (title, medium, dimension and price) of works to be exhibited by Monday 5 January. Artworks must be delivered to the gallery no later than 12PM on Wednesday 21 January. The exhibition will open to the public with an opening celebration from 6PM on Saturday 24 January.
Only selected artists are required to pay the exhibiting fee. Brunswick Street Gallery retains a 30% commission on all sold works.
We require artists, once their proposal has been accepted, to sign an artist agreement outlining artist and gallery's rights and responsibilities.
How to apply:
To submit your proposal, please email the following to exhibit@brunswickstreetgallery.com.au:
