GROUP EXHIBITION CALL-OUTS

Brunswick Street Gallery is proud to present an engaging, vibrant and diverse program of exhibitions, including group exhibitions featuring creatives working in a range of artistic practices.

We extend the opportunity to our community of artists to be a part of the below group exhibitions, where you see your practice aligning, and joining a lineup of artists responding in their own unique style to the themes presented in each showcase.

Information about how to apply for each group exhibition can be found below.

A THOUSAND WORDS

Winter Light Exhibition 2025

Brunswick Street Gallery is now accepting applications from artists who wish to exhibit in A Thousand Words, a group exhibition to be held from 16 April–3 May 2026.

Brunswick Street Gallery is pleased to invite you to submit work for our upcoming group exhibition, A Thousand Words.

A Thousand Words considers how an artwork can convey complex and sometimes multiple ideas at once. Borrowing from the adage “a picture is worth a thousand words,” this exhibition invites viewers to reflect on how artworks hold stories that shift and expand through individual interpretation, where meaning is shaped by each viewer’s own perspective.

In A Thousand Words, each artwork becomes a starting point rather than a conclusion. What stories unfold when we pause to look closely? What meanings emerge when our own feelings, memories, and experiences shape what we see?

Our group exhibitions provide an opportunity for artists working across all mediums to showcase new work without the pressure of a solo exhibition, and to exhibit alongside fellow emerging and established artists.

Exhibition Prompts:

Whether intimate or expansive, abstract or representational, artists are invited to explore the idea that every artwork has the potential to open a space for interpretation, shaped by the perspectives of each viewer.

We welcome submissions across all mediums, including painting, photography, sculpture, textiles, installation, digital media, and experimental practices.

Exhibition Fee:

Up to six artworks may be accepted per artist, across all mediums, including photography, painting, prints, drawings, and 3D ceramic and sculptural practices.

The exhibiting fee is $60 per artwork for 1–2 works, or $50 per artwork for 3 or more works.

Artwork should measure 60 × 60 cm or under. Works larger than 60 cm on any side may attract a higher fee.

Terms:

Brunswick Street Gallery values carefully curated exhibitions and may limit the number of works displayed by each artist, depending on the size of the submitted works and the wall space available within the exhibition.

Artists must supply high-res images and full details (title, medium, dimension and price) of works to be exhibited by Monday 6 April. Artworks must be delivered to the gallery no later than 12PM on Monday 13 April. The exhibition opening celebration will occur from 6PM on Friday 17 April.

Only selected artists are required to pay the exhibiting fee. Brunswick Street Gallery retains a 30% commission on all sold works.

We require artists, once their proposal has been accepted, to sign an artist agreement outlining artist and gallery's rights and responsibilities.

How to apply:

To submit your proposal, please email the following to exhibit@brunswickstreetgallery.com.au:

  • A short statement about your artworks
  • A short statement about your practice
  • An image of the artworks, artwork details (Title, Year, Medium, Edition # if applicable, Dimensions, Price)

APPLICATIONS CLOSE MONDAY 23 MARCH, MIDNIGHT.
