In Essence is an exhibition featuring a selection of artists whose practices are rooted in abstraction. This survey of Australian artists showcases styles ranging from ‘hard-line’ to improvisational process–employing gestural marks, simplified forms, considered lines and altered perspectives to capture moments in time, and scenes of interest presented in their purest essence.

Favouring an abstracted lens over the keen scope of realism, In Essence acknowledges the experience, control and understanding an artist possesses over their medium when they withdraw from the confines of reality.
