Melpomene and Thalia
Andrew Maes
29 May–15 jun
Arresting and bold these paintings reflect our state of being, the way we perceive the world around us and create the pictures in our mind, exploring the relationship between our biology, nature, culture and technology. All things move, all things run, all things are rapidly changing, intersecting and interpenetrating. An object is never motionless before our eyes, but constantly appears and disappears. Through this transformation, captured on canvas, each object’s own characteristic motion is revealed, an intimate identity of external and internal reality.
