The Frontier
Mickey Mason
2-19 october

The frontiers of the western landscape, outer space and the soul collide in Mickey Mason’s latest body of work, The Frontier. Lost in the desert, stalked by the devil and abducted by UFOs, his cowboys face faith, fear, and harsh realities across textured, folk-like paintings for a modern age.

Please join us for a drink to celebrate the opening of The Frontier on Friday 3 October (6–8PM).

Mickey Mason (b. 1993) is an Australian artist based in Naarm/Melbourne, Victoria.

Drawing from a wide mix of artistic influences, he combines the spirit of naïve folk art with his interest in frontiers, mysteries and adventure. His paintings are heavily textured and built from layers of acrylic, pigments, glitter and mixed materials, the result of ongoing experimentation in the studio. Each work carries traces of his latest obsessions, infused with curiosity, humour and a sense of fun that reflects the joy of making.
