Dion Teasdale is an emerging potter based in Victoria’s Yarra Valley. He creates small batches of hand-built functional and sculptural pottery inspired by the textures and tones of local forests and rivers. His stoneware vessels–a mix of bottles and jugs with glossy glazed openings–are designed to be used as dry stems, vases or sculptural objects. An exploration of composite forms, the vessels have been made in pairs, as if couples or siblings, each with its own name and personality, yet related. To be admired and used, each vessel carries a quiet tactility that celebrates the Australian bush, craftsmanship and the enduring value of handmade objects.
