The Back Paddock

Edwina Edwards is an Australian contemporary landscape painter based in Albury, New South Wales. Finding inspiration in the vibrancy and vitality of the local bushland, she describes her work as “an amalgam of sketches, images and memories”. Her panoramic paintings portray an ancient landscape moving through time, tracing the shifts between compounding seasons through layers of colour that emerge and recede, revealing new details with every glance.

“My current practice is about my local landscape. Absorbing the surrounding nature when I am walking, driving, even floating in the river. I’m always taking in the hills, the trees, the seasons, the colours, the time of day, the singing of birds, and the wild life around me.”

Since completing an Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts in 2016, Edwards work has been displayed in several significant solo and group exhibitions across Australia. She is currently represented by Brunswick Street Gallery.

This artwork is included in the group exhibition The Quiet Hours, on display from 26 March–12 April 2026
