Natalie Turner is a Mornington Peninsula-based artist who paints the Australian landscape and botanical motifs as maps of memory, belonging and personal enquiry.

Natalie’s practice explores the Australian landscape as sites of emotional resonance, rooted in deep reverence for place not just as physical geography but as emotional terrain.

Inspired by her childhood growing up in rural Gippsland, the landscape has been a long
standing muse, at once vast and intimate, ancient and ever-changing. Natalie is fascinated by the way light moves, how earth and sky merge and how stories and memories are carried in colour, texture and shadows.

Time spent walking, absorbing and observing inform Natalie’s practice. She often paints from sketches, photos and impressions, letting the essence of the landscape guide her hand rather than the detail. Painting in oils allows Natalie to build slow layers that capture not only form but presence, fleeting moments and those of stillness.

Through atmospheric depictions of transitions within the landscape, each work invites the viewer to enter in to a moment of pause and reflection an invitation to stand within the landscape and with each other.

Natalie holds a BA in Visual Art from Monash University. Natalie has been a part of group exhibitions in both regional and metropolitan Australian galleries. Her work is held in private collections throughout Australia.
