Phillip Nielsen (he/him) is a multidisciplinary designer and creative based on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Working across architecture, interior design, drawing, and ceramics, his practice is defined by a love of colour, geometry, symmetry, and repetition.

A lifelong creative, Phillip’s artistic journey began in childhood with colouring competitions and pastel drawings, later evolving into a 20-year career in architecture and design. His work explores themes of folly, humour, delight, and the beautifully ridiculous — where functionality and playfulness intersect.

Phillip discovered ceramics by chance, quickly finding clay to be a natural extension of his creative process. Largely self-taught, his practice thrives on experimentation and an ongoing curiosity for form and material.

As an openly queer artist, Phillip views his work as an expression of his flamboyant and joyful self — a space where queerness, creativity, and design converge. Through his ceramic forms, he celebrates individuality, imperfection, and the freedom to create with delight and authenticity.
