Liam Haley is a multi-disciplinary artist currently living and working on Wurundjeri Country, Naarm. Born on the Northern Rivers of NSW, Bundjalung Country, Haleys upbringing in this landscape focused connections towards the land and its abundance of all the shapes and colours an artist could need.
Haley’s artistic practice is currently concentrated in painting and drawing. His work is informed by modes of expression, feelings without words. Instead restored through movements of the body in a performance of mark making, this controlled chaos results in an outlay of abstracted colour, shape and texture.
An observant approach towards this controlled chaos, is an organised mess of memorisable abstracted forms from the artist, that could linger in the imagination of the viewer.
A distorted corner of an overgrown garden, silhouettes of overhanging branches, bent flowers and other flora, or simply just soothing colours and shapes to hold composition.
