CENTREPIECE
GROUP EXHIBITION
5–20 December
Centrepiece is an exhibition showcasing diverse artworks portraying both extravagant and everyday dining scenes, emphasizing the significance of meals shared with loved ones. It explores narratives of daily life through depictions of food, drink, groceries, plants, and floral arrangements, ranging from literal interpretations to symbolic arrangements.
Throughout history, artists worldwide have been fascinated by depicting food and table settings, reflecting both the opulence of the wealthy and the struggles of the poor. These representations capture cultural and social statuses, celebrating the indulgent and pleasurable nature of communal dining across various communities.
In the lead up to the festive season, this exhibition will explore the rituals we have around the table and celebrate bringing together the people we love to share a meal.
