Conjuring.: ..~”
Group Exhibition
1–18 August

William Magnus Christensen, Rory Giezekamp, Angus Della Bosca, and Matthew Brenner present four interpretations of conjuring. ‘Conjuring’ as a performance of illusion, ‘Conjuring’ new species of life, ‘Conjuring’ movement, and the repeated ‘Conjuring’ of human waste.

The result of this prompt (‘Conjuring’) has generated abstract sculptures and illustrations that digest moments from both our dystopian present and romanticised past. Della Bosca blurs prehistoric nature with the biology of the now, a 3D printed Darwinian lucid dream.

Christensen’s use of steel and chains reference the intimate relationship between our bodies and our industrialisation. Brenner’s painting realises the fighting human spirit, the unpredictability of human nature that always prevails. Giezekamp coagulates our excretions and omissions, using PVA glue, collaging rubbish that would have been sent to a landfill to be made someone else’s problem…

Ultimately, Conjuring.: ..~” asks: What are you conjuring? How much are you conjuring? Because it is important, now more than ever, to consider what you conjure.

Please join us for a drink to celebrate the opening of Conjuring.: ..~” on Friday 2 August (6–8PM)
