Iconic images with their geometry, structure and rhythms have always captivated Mary Sullivan. In Disassembling the Image the artist draws on them to explore concepts of alteration, diminishment and erasure. Continually moving beyond realistic interpretation, Sullivan works intuitively, searching out parallels with their process of disassembling and humanity’s indomitable ability for both destruction and creation.
