SON OF A GUN
MICKEY MASON

14 NOVEMBER–1 December

Mickey Mason’s Son of a Gun invites viewers into a world that dances between the familiar and the strange; where cowboys coexist with UFOs and folklore, creating a vivid clash of reality, imagination, and the psychedelic. His paintings, layered with heavy textures, glitter, and bold pigments, transport viewers into an uncanny universe where the influence of Western folklore, including echoes of the rugged tales sung by Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, and Hank Williams, can sometimes be felt. Yet, these echoes are just one thread in a tapestry of myth and mystery that Mason weaves to craft new stories.

Mason’s work unfolds as a visual narrative, with each painting telling a story filled with surreal turns and unexpected encounters. Viewers are pulled into stories where logic twists and scenes feel both strange and familiar, prompting them to search for hidden truths. Mason skillfully blurs the line between reality and imagination, crafting a fluid realm where the fantastical is always within reach.

Son of a Gun by Mickey Mason is presented by BSG Projects.
