In 2025 I moved from Germany to Melbourne, and painting became a way for me to slow down and make sense of my new surroundings. This series moves from early impressions of the landscape, to noticing local plants, to feeling more connected to the place. I worked with acrylic on raw canvas, letting the paint soak into the fabric. That process felt similar to how I was absorbing a new environment myself. The figures, plants, and colours came naturally, influenced by the different light, unfamiliar greenery, and the general feeling of starting fresh.
