These works were developed over the past few months as responses to moments experiencing the natural world within Melbourne. Working in mixed medium, Sam’s compositions are partially reimagined and altered from memory, facilitating a playful and personal approach to each painting. Often using close-up sections of much larger landscapes as a focus point, Sam isolates and expresses the harmony and stillness of nature which can be found in the urban environment. This idea is explored through quiet observation, colour and texture.
