Champagne springs

These works were created over a period of time working in the remote Kimberley region. Alice wanted to capture the multifaceted nature of this iconic landscape. The Kimberley is a complex web of luscious and tropical greenery in intimate gorges, harsh dryness and red dust, flowing water, constant bird song, vivid sunsets and vast escarpments of ancient rock. There is a roughness and charm to the Kimberley that Alice wanted to translate with paint. She developed a process of hiking with just a sketchbook, then developing the paintings from both the drawings and memory. The paintings became more experimental with colour and form, delving in and out of abstraction.
